Don Callens, M.D. joined LDRMC as Chief of Staff in 2010. Dr. Callens completed his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital, one of the nation’s most exemplary training programs. Prior to medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, he graduated from Texas Tech University and worked as a Pediatric Critical Care nurse for eight years. He is board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Francisco Ortiz comes to us via Concord Medical Group. He has been with us as an ED provider since May 2019. He is currently serving LDRMC as our ED Medical Director.
Dr. Ortiz completed his residency program at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital where he held the title of Chief Resident. In addition to holding a position as an Emergency Physician, he has also served as Wharton Junior College Medical director for their EMS program, EMS medical director for the city of Wharton Texas and Jackson County Hospital District and ER medical director for Jackson County Hospital District in Edna, Texas.

Jessie Adame, MD joined LDRMC in 2016. Dr. Adame is Laboratory Director for Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center Laboratory. Dr. Adame is responsible for all laboratory functions including the definition of normal ranges for all tests, oversees Quality Controls and quality Assessment guidelines, keeps laboratory in compliance with all regulatory issues, and ensures that all procedure manuals are kept current and timely.
Dr. Adame received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University before pursuing his Doctor of Medicine Degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed his residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston Affiliated Hospitals. He completed fellowship training in Cardiovascular Pathology at the Texas Heart Institute/St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston. He also completed fellowship training in Forensic Pathology at the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office in Houston. He has served as Deputy Medical Examiner for Galveston County and Associate Fellow Medical Examiner for Harris County. He has also served as Clinical Instructor of Pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston). Dr. Adame serves as a necropsy pathologist for Texas Heart Institute and oversees several hospital laboratories in the greater Houston area. Most of his time is spent performing autopsies for individuals and numerous hospitals in the greater Houston area through his independent autopsy service (Autopsy and Pathology Services, P.A.). Dr. Adame is a member of various professional organizations including American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), International Association of Corners and Medical Examiners, Texas Society of Pathologists (TSP), Texas Medical Association (TMA), Harris County Medical Society, and the Houston Society of Clinical Pathologists. He has held several officer positions with the Houston Society of Clinical Pathologists including President, Vice President, and Treasurer and served as a Delegate for the Texas Society of Pathologists.
Dr. Adame is married and has 3 children. He enjoys outdoor activities including walking, running, camping, skiing, and hunting. He enjoys traveling. He and his family are active members of their church in north Houston.

Amanuel Abreha, M.D. joined LDRMC in 2014. Dr. Abreha serves as Director of Medical and Respiratory Services, LDRMC Vice Chief of Staff, Liberty Dayton Medical Clinic Provider, Emergency Room Provider and Inpatient Hospitalist.
Dr. Abreha’s desire to practice medicine started in his early teen years as he grew up in Eritrea, Africa where he witness a significant need for doctors, nurses, and medical facilities to reduce deaths in his country. He received his M.D. at Addis Ababa University School of Medicine. After practicing medicine in Ethiopia for more than 6 years, Dr. Abreha and his family moved to the United States in 1994 to further his education. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Health Services at Queens Health Network in June 2000. Dr. Abreha continued working as faculty for Mount Sinai for 5 years. He worked in the department of ambulatory care and as an Associate Program Director of the Residency Training Program.
Dr. Abreha brings more than 30 years of clinical experience to LDRMC. His compassion for his patients shows in his medical practice as he says, “I love my patients and bond to them immediately like my own family members.”
